"We’re not here to fix each other. We’re here to walk each other home." Yes! That's it and that is all. I love the simplicity of this reminder. It's connection that will get us through the ups and downs of our unpredictable lives. And connecting with you earlier this week meant the world to me! Keep reminding us about the goodness in the world!
Shaun, I'm exactly the kind of person you're writing about in this post. Over the last month especially I am facing crushing financial ruin and no real option to get out from under. Except for my therapist (online) and a Canadian acquaintance I chat with on Blue Sky no one reaches out to check in on me ever. Not even in good times! It makes me feel like I'm some kind of unworthy pariah.
Thank you for sharing this so openly. I can only imagine how heavy that must feel right now. I want you to know that your words here matter, and you matter. It’s incredibly painful to not feel seen, especially during such a hard chapter, and it’s not a reflection of your worth.
I’m glad you have your therapist and your Canadian friend as lifelines, but I hear you that sometimes we need more than one or two people holding us up. If it feels doable, even the smallest outreach can help... commenting on someone’s post, joining an online group around an interest you love, or checking in on someone else can sometimes open the door to new connections. It’s not about replacing the deep support you deserve, but about planting seeds for more of it to grow.
You’re not a pariah. You’re a human being going through something extraordinarily tough, and you are not alone - many people are experiencing this right now. I’m rooting for you.
You put this so plain and simple. I love it. And I love the solutions you offer :)

That's so true Shaun! Being there for each other is what counts!
